The Animal Hospital of Parkland family wishes to extend our heartfelt congratulations to our own Dr. Ernest Petersen for achieving the status of Feline Specialist with the American Board of Veterinary Practitoners (ABVP). Dr. Petersen is now one of only five Feline Specialists in the entire State of Washington!
From the ABVP website: Founded in 1978, the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners (ABVP) promotes and recognizes the highest standards in the art and science of contemporary veterinary clinical practice. They are veterinarians who have demonstrated expertise in the broad range of clinical subjects relevant to their practice and who display the ability to communicate medical observations and data in an organized, appropriate manner. Unlike other AVMA specialty boards, which are devoted to specific disciplines or organ systems, ABVP awards species-oriented certification in ten different practice categories?
ABVP currently recognizes over 850 Diplomates (specialists). Becoming a veterinary specialist takes many years of dedicated study and research. We are proud of Dr. Petersen's efforts and look forward to him continuing to provide quality medical care to all of our patients. In case you were wondering, despite him being a feline specialist now, he will gladly continue to see our canine patients too.
If you have any questions about the veterinary specialist certification process please feel free to ask Dr. Petersen or for more information see the ABVP website at: www.abvp.com.
